Hi Everyone, my name is Deanne. I’m the founder of Root2Ginger. On the 18TH June, my granddaughter's birthday, I enjoyed a long-awaited day in London spent with my son at Hampton Court Palace, at an amazing concert by Chaka Khan. We danced the evening away whilst, unknown to us, our storage unit back in Manchester was on fire. The next day I received a shocking email and reports from the Manchester Evening News, which informed me that the building which services 100 businesses remained on fire and fire services were still trying to control this 3 days later. On Saturday, I received an email stating that the council and emergency services had made the devastating decision to demolish the entire building as the fire could not be brought under control.
This unit has been home to our small family business for the past 2 years, since scaling up and moving everything from our house where we started Root2Ginger in 2021. We had everything for our business in this unit and faced £1000’s in losses as we had prepared significant stock for upcoming summer events, markets and retailers. For us as a family, we had many keepsakes there that were reminders of our journey and this is sad for us as we will never get them back. Photographs, our first event keepsake banners and boards, our Great Taste original bottles and recipes that we had kept. £1000’s of new labels and event banners and equipment. We’ve lost all of our racking, stacking crates, wheels and packaging. Everything in the entire building is deemed unsalvageable and we cannot return.
After 4 years of starting Root2Ginger, we have lost absolutely everything. We have boot-strapped our business from the start and put all of our profits back into growing our business. We have not had any grants or loans and instead have worked together as a family and kept everything in the house.
My children have been truly amazing this week, whilst shocked, their first response has been to send me dates when they are available to manufacture and offer money and time. They have not even considered anything other than we will carry on! I love them so much. There has been lots of love and continued laughter in our home, and we lift each other up. I have only shed tears at the love shown to us by family and friends. We have a lot of love around us and a great team that keeps us going and reminds us we’re going to be FINE.
We are asking for your help. If you have any related businesses that can provide anything you think we need, please get in touch with us on info@rootginger.co.uk On a good note, our amazing commercial juicer remains safe as that is in the manufacturing facility we use, and we will be back batching Root2Ginger this week. We really need your help and are asking you to keep our business going by placing orders on our website. We need lots of them. We promise we will get orders to you as quickly as possible, but it will take a little longer than usual as we need a few weeks to build up stock. Please refer us to your friends and family and ask them to order too. We will work hard to bring you the best ginger drinks as quickly as we can. Thank you so much.
