Many will start the New Year with resolutions or plans for the year ahead. If we achieve what we set out to do we can enjoy a great sense of achievement and feelings of excitement. However, as we strive to achieve new goals and prepare for change this can place additional stress on our minds and bodies.
Ginger increases the level of two of the most important mood-boosting neurotransmitters, serotonin and dopamine which are found to be low in people experiencing depression. As Ginger is one of nature’s most effective antioxidants it is particularly important for the brain since it’s highly susceptible to oxidative damage.
Ginger has long been known as a mood booster; I often describe having a hot drink of Root2Ginger Spiced as my hug in a cup. Not only is it delicious its soothing and gives me time to reflect during the day. For me there is nothing like a shot of ginger or a long cool glass of Root2Ginger over ice to re-energize the body. It works every time, you just can’t beat that Fiery Kick!
To beat those January Blues first remember they are quite normal, get outside and enjoy as much daylight as possible, look forward to the year ahead by setting realistic and achievable goals. Recognise and reward yourself for your achievements. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and remember to drink or eat something with ginger regularly.
Wishing you all a very Happy, Healthy and Gingerful! 2023
